Electroforming made EasyWednesdays, April 1-15
6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$135 plus $15 materials fee- 3 sessions
Instructor Amy Reeves
Course description: Electroforming (a.k.a. "dipping") is an exciting technique which allows you to 'grow' copper over almost any object. You will learn how to use this process to create a shell of copper over things like glass, wax carvings and organic materials (seed pods, dried flowers, etc) to name a few. Electroforming can be used to create complex hollow forms in copper for sculpture or jewelry. Options for a simple home set-up will be available. No prior metalworking experience is necessary, but knowledge of soldering is helpful.
Materials: Most materials included. Bring objects to electroform- anything porous MUST be completely sealed by dipping in shellac or varnish. Since the varnish takes 24 hours to dry this can be done prior to class to save time.
Prerequisite: No prior metalworking experience is necessary, but knowledge of soldering is helpful.
